Idle Interview: Milo Turk

Milo Turk was the American Idol contestant who proudly and emphatically sang his song No Sex Allowed for the judges. Milo completely stunned Ryan with his views and further confused Randy during his audition. Despite being overage, Randy and Paula did end up having fun and singing along with the catchy chorus.

I had the opportunity to chat with Milo for a while about his audition. Milo even shares the two additional verses you didn't hear on the show!

Novac from Idle Idols: For the record: What is your name? What is your quest? What is your favourite colour?
Milo Turk: My name is Milo Turk. My quest is to get everyone not to take sex for granted, and to consider it sacred. My favorite color is green, like the environment.
Novac: You sang No Sex Allowed for the judges. Is there a way for us to hear the second and third verses of the song that you mentioned during your audition?
Milo: I could type the lyrics to the second and third verses, if you like.
Novac: Sure. I think the readers would like to read them.
Milo: Good. Here's the second verse:

We touch and we feel our bodies just so
whether she's satisfied, I don't know
She complains that she wants to go all the way, I think about it myself, but then I say
"Stop it now, the subject's getting old, cause you don't use no birth control…."

Third verse:

She said "listen boy, what's the matter with you, don't you dare deny that you want sex too,"
I said "it's something that you can't explain, you're headed for the sun like a fool in the rain."
HIV, pregnancy, and then what's next, is it really worth it to have sex?

And that's it.
Novac: Very nice. How did you decide that you'd audition, even though you were over the AI age limit?
Milo: Here's the secret. You can't be over the age limit if you want to go to Hollywood, but if you have something that is good enough and worthy enough and that will make for good television, if you play your cards right, you just might be able to make it onto the audition show, and even make it to the big three.
Novac: I noticed that you didn't have a contestant number on, but other overage contestants did have numbers. Why is that?
Milo: You are very observant, and I congratulate you on that. That's something that no one else noticed that interviewed me so far, and I was waiting to see if anybody noticed. Well, here's the lowdown on that. I was a contestant for a number of auditions, going on up to one of the priliminary judges. As long as I was a contestant, I had a number on my chest, as you may well know. Well, one of the priliminary judges stopped me cold, and even though they liked my audition, they told me that I was too old to go any further. So you would think that would be end of my auditions. Not quite. The next day, I went as a guest of one of the other contestants, not thinking that I would get another chance. While I was waiting for my friend to go up in front of the judges (he made it but he was also overage) I got to speak to Ryan, and I tried to convince him that it wasn't fair that my friend was seeing the judges even though he was too old, and that I wasn't, and that the only reason that I was rejected was that I was too old. Then I told him about this marvelous song that millions of people must hear called, no Sex Allowed, and that the judges had to hear it. So not only did I go in as someone who was overage, but also probably the first guest of a contestant to go up in front of the judges. And that's why you see me without a number.
Novac: Do you think you convinced Ryan Seacrest that abstinence is the answer?
Milo: Yes, I really think so.
Novac: Are you happy with the editing in your clip? What didn't make the cut that you wish was included?

Milo: What I really wish was included was the positive remarks that both Randy and Paula made after I sang the first verse. Paula said, "You're too good for this show" and "I see dollar signs". Randy liked the choreography where he said, "I like that little march you do in the song". Even Simon said something about whether my song no Sex Allowed was an autobiography of my love life. And, unbenownst to TV watchers out out there, I did do the second verse in front of them.
Novac: Personally, I like the hand motion you were doing during the chorus, though I'm not sure what it was supposed to be.
Milo: They were gesticulations, emphasizing the lyrics in the song, like bring my hand accross when I say, "All she wants is sex", and bring my fist to my chest when I sing, "I promise her love, as she strings along"..
Novac: So you are a social worker. Do you sing these songs for people coming into the office?
Milo: Not quite, but I learn about the issues dealing with sexuality as part of my work, such as the dangers of HPV, AIDS, and other STD's, and part of my training has dealt with male and female sexual health. By the way, when I started my social work, I used to sing my songs at coffeehouses that I set up for my coworkers and clients, and during parties I used to run the karaoke machine and be an MC.
Novac: Just two last obligatory questions, and I’ll let you be on your way . . . If you could be a condiment, which condiment would you be?
Milo: Well, my favorite condiment is honey mustard, because it is sweet and spicy at the same time, and I'm kinda like that too.
Novac: Last question: Ginger or Mary Ann?
Milo: Well, since I'm conservatively minded, and I prefer the girl next door type, I would definitely say Mary Ann.
Novac: Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to chat, Milo. I thank you, the readers thank you, and Abe Vigoda thanks you.
Milo: Tell Abe Vigoda I'm looking out for his next TV show.
