Michael brought with him a medal he won in elementary school for "Best Vocalizing in Music Class". On the back of the medal, he pasted a fortune cookie's fortune reading, "A person with a determined heart frightens problems away."
Michael sang an original song he wrote for his mother that goes:
There's so many times I've thought about you
but in my heart I feel that you're going away slowly
but if you love me, you'll stay with me forever.
I want to build a bridge to cross over
so I can hold your heart forever
Michael mentioned that he also had a song he had written for his grandmother, and he promised the judges that the chorus was more cheerful than the first song:
I'm never saying goodbye for as long as I live
'cause something deep, something deep keeps telling me
that you're still here by my side
The judges quickly pointed out that they were practically the same song, and that they expressed more of a BF-GF relationship that a mother-son relationship.
Simon gave a Paula-esque suggestion that he write greeting cards for Hallmark, but Paula derided Simon because that's not what Michael wanted to hear.
Outside after his audition, Michael broke down and cried because his dream had been crushed.

Andrew was preceded by two cheerleaders wearing red and white "Andrew" uniforms.
Andrew sang the Temptations' My Girl but was not good enough to win over Simon. After singing another song, he lost the votes of the other three and was turned down.
Andrew took the rejection in stride, but his cheerleaders started crying because he didn't make it through to Hollywood.

Vaughn English seems to be as weird as his name.
Vaughn came into the audition room and sang Tally Hall's eccentric song Banana Man as Randy looked at the spectacle with a dropped jaw.
And when you're going to sing a banana-related song, what better color to wear than bright yellow?
Simon asked, "Hang on, what is this song???"
Randy asked, "What is going on here, man?"
And that was that.

Michael is Jason Castro's brother. You remember Jason Castro from American Idol 7, the dreadlocked contestant who made it to the top 4.
When Paula asked Michael why he didn't audition for the previous season along with his brother he replied, "I didn't sing. I just started singing like 20 days before the auditions. I was like, 'If Jay can sing, I can sing, right?'"
Michael sang Gavin DeGraw's In Love with a Girl and he did well enough to get passed through to Hollywood. We'll see how he does once he stops being Jason Castro's brother and starts being Michael Castro.

Brian trained in opera but gave up music for two years. He describes himself as "a big guy with a big heart and a big voice and I want to do some big ol' things."
Brian sang Aretha Franklin's Think in a sort of faux-Elvis style. This was highlighted well by his "look": Fuzzy hair and beard with a leather jacket showing off his chest hair.
Simon summed up our thoughts by saying "from the horrendous outfit, the horrendous singing, everything was wrong in this audition, Brian. I mean seriously wrong. I hated everything. I mean, it was just awful. Awful."
