Johnny came into the audition wearing a sparkling gold jacket.

Johnny sang Otis Day and the Knights' Shout, complete with dance moves involving kicking his heels up and tapping quickly back and forth from one heel to the other and waving his arms.

Simon told Johnny that his audition was everything he hated, including his jacket, singing and dancing. Johnny told the judges that he wasn't sure what they were looking for exactly, but that's how he performs.

Sarah Whitaker is a former wrestler. In the ring, she was better known as Lady Morgue. Sarah wore eyeliner that thickly lined her eyes, jutted upward along the edge of her nose, and then traced her eyebrows.

Sarah admitted that one of her greatest trademarks in the ring was her laugh: A shrill scream followed by the laugh from the opening of The Surfaris' Wipe Out.

Pre-audition, Sarah gave Ryan a "light tap," which sent him backward a step in shock.

Sarah sang Tiny Tim's Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight. Simon described the "strange" audition as the soundtrack for Omaha. Nonetheless, Paula gave Sarah a "yes" vote, but Randy and Simon turned her down.

After the audition, Ryan came in to find out what was wrong with Sarah, and the judges forced Ryan to sit in and judge the next contestant (Samantha Sidley, contestant #37491) since he was interfering. Paula did the interview while Ryan was busy judging.

Chris is an effervescent American Idol fan. He loves the show so much and was so excited about auditioning that he choked up when he was telling Simon and Randy about his enthusiasm.

In his pre-audition interview, Chris said, "Today I'm so happy I feel like I could explode and happiness is gonna go flying everywhere." He continued by noting that his audition day was "the biggest, life alternating change in my life."

Chris brought gifts for the judges — a large stuffed animal dog for Randy, an England sweatshirt for Simon, and a small stuffed animal cat for Paula. Since Paula's flight was delayed and she wasn't there, Simon quickly tossed Paula's gift on the floor and asked Chris if he couldn't have just brought them money instead.

Chris showed Simon a photo album of him and Kelly Clarkston, so it was only fitting that he chose to sing Kelly's Since You've Gone. During his butchered rendition, Chris also did an awkward turn followed by an unsteady handstand.

Simon let Chris down easy but firmly told him that his singing wasn't good enough. Chris asked if he could audition to be one of American Idol's red carpet announcers. For this portion of the audition, he anemically announced, "Welcome America to the season finale of American Idol. You have been with us from the first note and now America you decide with your final vote."

Simon asked him what the local Fox affiliate was. Chris told him that it was Fox 42 (KPTM). Simon told Chris to tell Fox 42 to let him report at American Idol for that affiliate, and if they gave him trouble to have them call the American Idol producers up.

So, it looks like we haven't seen the last of Chris Bernheisel — or at least, Omaha television hasn't seen the last of him.

Joseph sang Justin Guarini's Get Here in a serious tone, so if you weren't looking at your television screen, you'd think it was just another mediocre American Idol audition. What you wouldn't know, however, is that Joseph was dressed in a sombrero and poncho, with Juanita performing as a mime alongside him. Juanita mimed an airplane while he sang that line, and even did some freaky "my brains are falling out of my head" motion during "you can reach me with your mind."

During the performance, Simon rubbed his eyes. Randy shook his head and Simon said, "Sorry." Joseph and Juanita made their way out with smiles on their faces.

Joseph and Juanita were also pictured in episode 5 (Omaha) as one of the squares in the "You Forgot the Lyrics" title screen, though they weren't shown as having forgotten their lyrics at all.
