Alexis Cohen (a.k.a. "Glitter Girl") twice appeared on American Idol. In season 7, Alexis first appeared. Outside the audition room, Alexis ranted for a while, spewing a string of profanities combined with multiple confused cliches and mixed metaphors. In season 8, Alexis reappeared with a new attitude, promising that she would behave. After her audition, she ended up giving the judges the double-finger before leaving.

Alexis was a great Idle Idol. Even while ranting and raving, she seemed to be upbeat about the whole thing. She was working on stand-up comedy and had even posted a MySpace video just the day before her death. If you are not allergic to adult language, you can watch the Alexis Cohen MySpace video.

Thanks, Alexis, for the fun times in both seasons.

The Idle Idol closest to making it to the final 24 was Kyle Ensley, who probably would have made it if they instead had a final 25.

Well, that's the end of the road for the fun auditions of American Idol season 7. Thanks again to the 59 contestants who made the process a whole lot more fun to watch.

On the stage, however, Kyle had more confidence singing Lighthouse Edison's Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes). The judges weren't impressed with his singing, however. While Paula struggled to find kind words to say about Kyle's spirit, Simon said, "I can't listen to this rubbish anymore. I'm gonna say 'No'" and left the room. Needless to say, Kyle wasn't passed through to the next round — yet.

In his second audition, Kyle was passed through to the next round along with Jeffery Lampkin, though we never heard what or how Kyle sang for that audition.

In the next round, Kyle sang Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up. In a rare twist on the usual, Paula was the only judge who offered up criticism, calling it a "safe" audition. Simon even apologized for his antics of leaving the room during his first audition. Kyle was passed through to the final 50 unanimously.

Kyle was one of the last two males to go in front of the judges. Unfortunately, the judges chose Colton Berry over Kyle. Simon had some very positive comments to say to Kyle about his trip:

Kyle, I want you to know — from me — wholeheartedly, I disagree with this decision. I think you had done enough because you were different and unique to have made it through to the next round, and I completely and utterly disagree with this decision. I think you should have been given the chance based on the impact you made at Hollywood to be competing further in this competition. I don't think you're the best singer, but I think you have something which people would have enjoyed, and I'm really disappointed. Really disappointed.

Paula came around the desk and gave Kyle two hugs. Randy told him to stay without and to keep working to become better and more consistent. Simon told Kyle that he was "sorry about it", and that it was nice to meet him. Kyle graciously congratulated Colton on his win.

Clearly a promo for the upcoming film Jumper, Hayden Christensen and Ryan are sitting in Egypt having lunch. As we get a closeup of the two, Ryan makes his best attempt at looking astonished at the view. As they jump back to Hollywood, Ryan again attempts to look astonished.

If this show were American Acting Idol, Ryan wouldn't even be worthy of host.

Jeffery did not get passed through in his first Hollywood audition, so he returned to sing his second song a cappella. For his second song, he chose Big Blonde And Beautiful from Hairspray.

After finding out that he sang well enough to make it through to the next stage in Hollywood, Jeffery shouted, "Oh, the glory! Oh, the glory! Hallelujah!" Outside the room, he sat down, threw his towel over his face, and shot his arms up into the air, saying "Thank you!"

In the next round, Jeffery sang A Whole New World from Aladdin, but the performance was far too shaky at this stage of the show. Paula told him, "I believe you know it kind of fell apart," and unfortunately, that's the last we'll see of the fun and energetic Jeffery Lampkin on American Idol.

Randy voted "No" and Simon voted "Yes", leaving it up to Paula. Brooke asked if she could sing the part she messed up, and Paula noted that she had chosen that part for herself in the first place. Brooke started singing the song anyway and never made it back to the high note.

Simon gave a countdown for Paula to make a decision, but Brooke thought he was counting her down to start singing again, thus adding to the confusion.

Paula finally told Brooke that she was off the show. Brooke claimed that she wasn't given a fair chance.

Unfortunately, his performance of Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It For You couldn't woo the judges. As he played the guitar, he basically shouted the lyrics without any tone. Simon said it was "incredibly corny", and Ghaleb didn't make it past the first Hollywood round.

There were 59 Idle Idols in Season 7. Of these, 11 of them made it through to Hollywood, one way or another.

Here's a quick recap of the contestants featured on Idle Idols that are headed to Hollywood:

• Ghaleb Emachah — A Venezuelan with a thick accent who received Yes votes from Randy and Paula.
• Kyle Ensley — A PolySci student aspiring to be the next governor of Oklahoma who was voted unanimously through on the promise that he wouldn't be like Clay Aiken.
• Brandon Green — Fingernail collector who received Yes votes from Randy and Paula, but said he liked Simon the best.
• Brooke Helvie — Miss South Florida Fair pageant belle who was passed unanimously through, despite the fact that Simon called her annoying.
• Joshua Jones — Crazy-eyed singer who had to face away from the judges in order to receive Yes votes from Randy and Paula.
• Jeffery Lampkin — Weird, extremely extroverted man who jumped up and down after being passed through unanimously. Brother of Michelle Lampkin.
• Michelle Lampkin — Outgoing singer with a good attitude who got Yes votes from Simon and Paula. Sister of Jeffery Lampkin.
• Samantha Musa — Simon-obsessed fan who received four Yes votes, including one from her sister, Michelle Musa.
• Corliss Smith — Lover of "beefy" men like Randy who was passed through unanimously. Close friend of Brittany Wescott.
• Alesha Stelzl — Dolly Parton sound-alike who was passed through with Yes votes from Randy and Paula (and an unrecorded Yes vote from Simon) only after learning and singing a Dolly Parton song.
• Brittany Wescott — Plus-sized lover of skinny men like Ryan who was passed through unanimously. Close friend of Corliss Smith.

Joshua Moreland goes by the name "Jay Smoove."

Jay Smoove sang his own song, Beautiful Lady. After singing the first two words, he tossed a combination of glitter and rose petals into the air.

In typical fashion, Simon summed it up as a "horribly over-the-top, corny, revolting audition."

After Joshua left the room, an assistant walked to the stage with a broom. Simon quickly jumped up and called Ryan in to have him do the American Idol housework, but Ryan said he wouldn't feel comfortable with not letting her do her job. As Ryan walked out, Simon asked if they were still on camera and took the broom to sweep up and prove that he was the better man. As Simon swept the glitter and rose petals, Randy said he didn't think Simon had ever swept before and Paula pointed out that he didn't even know how to hold the broom properly. Ryan returned and explained that the tool was called a "broom". Once told the cameras weren't rolling, Simon quickly told the assistant that the mess was all hers again.

Alesha has been singing since she was eight years old. She said her sound was unique and that she didn't sound like anyone else, but the judges would eventually disagree with that sentiment.

Alesha sang Celine Dion's Surrender. Her vocal stylings were odd, particularly in the more powerful sections of the song.

Simon cut her off and asked who her vocal coach was. Alesha told him that it was Ron Harris at Talent Boot Camp, and Simon noted that "someone just lost their job." (Little did he know that Ron Harris is one of Christina Aguilera's producers.)

Paula noted that she liked Alesha's voice when she wasn't trying to sing powerfully. Randy mentioned that she had the same tone as Dolly Parton, and Paula wholeheartedly agreed. Alesha didn't know any Dolly Parton songs, so Simon instructed her to learn a Dolly Parton song and come back to sing it when she was comfortable.

Alesha returned to the holding room and watched YouTube videos of Dolly Parton's Islands in the Stream. After rehearsing it for a while, she returned and sang it to the judges. With a Dolly Parton song, Alesha did much better. Simon refrained from voting because it wasn't "his" audition any more. Simon and Paula both passed Alesha through to Hollywood. Simon said, "Welcome to Dollywood."

After Alesha left, Simon said to Paula, "I hate to admit it, you were right. . . . That wasn't the ending that I wanted."

Ashley is the girlfriend and ex-girlfriend of Cory and Chris Lane, respectively.

Ashley immediately stole Simon and Paula's heart when she walked in carrying Panda, a 6 week old Pomeranian puppy.

Ashley sang Kellie Pickler's Red High Heels, but since she had black heels on, she sang it as "black high heels".

Outside the audition room, Cory and Chris admitted that they told her that her voice was up to par so she's try out, but they didn't actually believe she had a chance to make it through.

As it turns out, they were right because Simon called the audition "excruciating."

Cory and Chris are identical twins. They came with Cory's girlfriend (and Chris' ex-girlfriend), Ashley Lawing, to audition.

At the audition, Chris beatboxed while Cory rapped about being better than the Brittenum twins:

Yeah, baby.
We comin' for y'all, Brittenums.
The new rivalry. 2007 Idol.
Here's how we gonna do this.
Sit back, please relax.

At this point, Cory loses his place in the song and can't find his way back into the song:

Finally, Cory gets himself back into the song and picks up at the line he originally missed:

We ain't cocky, we just want you to see
We got that look, got the voice, got that personality.

Simon called their audition "amateurish" and they left without a fight.

Outside the audition room, Ashley admitted she was shocked that they both hadn't made it through to Hollywood.

Tiffany has been "singing ever since church choir" and her pastor told her that her voice is "more maturing." It's quite possible that he's right, but if that's true, I'd hate to have heard her when she was starting out. Tiffany admitted that she is still trying to train up her voice.

Pre-audition, Tiffany did some warm-ups from her vocal lessons for the camera. Her scales sounded more like a bored, tone deaf race car speeding through its gears.

Tiffany sang the gospel song Hallelujah. She sang very loudly and very poorly.

Tiffany told Simon that her voice was a gift from God, and after her audition, Simon asked if there was a return policy.

In the holding room, we see Tiffany singing Loggins & Messina's Run River Run. As she's belting out the song, we hear a voice loudly say "Shh!!!"

Jared sang Henry Purcell’s I’ll Sail Upon a Dog Star in a very high voice — even higher than most girls.

In case you couldn't understand the lyrics he was singing simply because your ears can't hear pitches that high, here is what we hear him singing:

I'll sail upon the Dog Star,
And then pursue the morning,
And then pursue
And then pursue the morning.

I'll climb the frosty mountain,
I'll climb the frosty mountain,
And there I'll coin the weather.

At this point, we hear Simon say, "OK, this is like something out of a science fiction movie."

Chris has a full beard and wore what looked to be a leather kilt. What better to complement this clothing choice than a striped collared shirt and sneakers?

For his audition, Chris sang Indigo Girls' Summertime:

Summertime
And the living is easy
Fish are jumping
The cotton is high

Chris may not look like an American Idol, but at least he had a monotone voice that was sure to carry him all the way to . . . the audition room door.

Eva is a very extroverted woman who always seems to be smiling. Paula complemented Eva on her smile as she entered the audition room.

Eva chose to sing Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles. As she started singing poorly, Eva started dancing around and twirling. After her first twirl, her contestant number sticker fell off and onto the back section of the stage. Eva continued dancing around, and eventually stepped on the sticker, which stuck to the heel of her high heel shoes. On Eva's next step, she suddenly had no traction and slipped to the floor. Luckily, Eva was wearing white stockings so she didn't flash the cameras.

Simon called it out as an act, but Eva vehemently defended herself and said that she was just trying to be energetic and entertain the judges.

After being turned down by the judges, Eva left the audition room, tore up her contestant number sticker, and jumped up and down on it.

Brooke was the 2007 Miss South Florida Fair and she wanted to prove to Simon that pageant belles can sing.

Regarding the Miss South Florida Fair contest, Brook said, "It was a lot of fun. I would definitely do it again, if I don't do American Idol, which I hope I do do American Idol. I just said 'Doo doo American Idol.'"

Brooke sang The Jackson 5's Who's Loving You and she sang well enough to prove that at least this pageant belle could sing.

Brooke got a unanimous vote through to Hollywood.

As Brooke left screaming with joy, Simon described Brooke as "possibly the most annoying person in the world I have ever seen in my life." He noted that he didn't want her to sing well, but obviously she did well enough to get his vote.

J.P. auditioned three years ago and was two places in front of Carrie Underwood in the audition line.

J.P. sang Rascal Flatts's Me and My Gang, but he didn't come through with the star quality he earlier claimed to have.

After some poor feedback, J.P. told the judges he didn't want to spend four years in school as a music major.

Simon told J.P., "My pen has got more charisma.

Josh Jones is a glassworker, but if he makes it to Hollywood, he wouldn't mind throwing his glass cutter as far as he can.

In Josh's audition, he sang Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, but that's exactly what Simon did. Simon was distracted by Josh's eyes as he sang because they would open a bit too wide during parts of the song. Even Paula admitted that he had a good voice but that his eyes were distracting.

After advising him not to do the thing with his eyes, Josh did it again the second time. Randy told Josh to turn away from the judges so they could hear his voice without being distracted by his eyes.

While Josh was singing to the wall, Simon noted, "He can't make it through to the finals if he performs like that every night."

Simon declared that the performance was a bit too "karaoke-y", but Paula and Randy pushed Josh through to the next round.

Outside the audition room, Josh revealed that he had three four-leaf clovers stuck to the back of his contestant number sticker.

Brandon Black (a.k.a. Bran B) burst into the audition room wearing a wig and screaming various seemingly nonsensical phrases, starting with "Get down! 742!" It's possible that he was playing an agent-type character named Damon, but it was hard to tell exactly what was going on.

Brandon assured the judges that he wasn't just funny, and Simon assured Brandon that he wasn't funny.

Brandon said he sang the Boyz II Men hit I'll Make Love to You for Paula, which seemed to offend Paula. The singing was over the top and Brandon followed that song with his own creation titled I Am the Next American Idol. Simon cut him off mid-song.

After having his singing interrupted, Brandon slipped into some hat tricks and continued again with the random, high pitched talking.

As Simon and Randy got up and walked out on his audition, Brandon asked, "So, that's a yes or a no?" Simon quickly answered "No" on his way out.

Julie was one of the top 20 on the only season of American Juniors, so she figured that she'd try out for American Idol now that she's old enough.

Julie sang Janis Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee, but it didn't go over well with the judges. Simon asked Julie if she had ever been called precocious, and Julie asked him what "precocious" meant.

Simon complained that the audition was over-rehearsed. While Simon was giving her advice, Julie broke into Mariah Carey's Butterfly. Simon reaffirmed his feeling that she needed to stop the playacting in front of the camera.

After the audition, Julie complained that the judges had said she was acting, and then she went off into a drama queen act that involved even more acting than in her rehearsal.

As we watched Julie's tirade out the building, we were also treated to Julie's 12-year-old performance on American Juniors.

Julie parting words: "Don't audition for American Idol. Don't watch the show."

Carroy's hair was large with black roots and white ends. In fact, he sort of looked like Eddie Murphy with a skunk on his head.

For his audition, Carroy sang Aretha Franklin's Chain Of Fools as loudly as he could.

Simon noted that it was "a bit over the top," and that's the last we saw of Carroy.

You might remember Ben from season five's Denver audition when he brought in his Cosmic Coaster invention and mingled with the judges.

This year, Ben sang Elton John's Crocodile Rock, though he changed the lyric to "Me and Paula had so much fun." Simon wouldn't have any of that, and that was the end of Ben's audition this year.

Corliss and Brittany sometimes claim to be sisters because they share so many similar interests — except that Brittney likes skinny men and Corliss likes her men "beefy."

Corliss told Randy that Ryan wasn't his type. She then sang, "I want you, baby," to Randy, which put a huge grin on Randy's face. Simon encouraged Corliss to sing her song directly to Randy, and Simon and Paula moved to the side. Corliss impressed the judges with a jazz tune: Al Jarreau's Take Five.

Brittany took the audition stage and sang Mary Wells' My Guy to Simon.

All three judges agreed to pass both Corliss and Brittany on through to Hollywood. Once they had gotten the good news, Paula invited them both to come plant kisses on Simon and Randy, and the girls happily obliged.

Ghaleb is a Venezuelan who describes his singing style as "passionate." He plays the guitar, harmonica, and piano.

Ghaleb sang Marc Anthony's You Sang To Me and did a decent job.

Simon told Ghaleb that he'd only like him while he was drunk. Paula said that his accent was a bit of an obstacle, but that she liked the tone of his voice. Paula refused to make a decision as Simon hounded her with the continual "Yes or no?" question. While she thought, Randy gave Ghaleb a "yes" vote based on the quality of his voice.

Finally, frustrated by Simon, Paula gave Ghaleb a hug and congratulated him on making it through to Hollywood, so long as he would work on his accent.

Ghaleb celebrated by kissing everyone on the American Idol staff he could find on his way out of the audition hall.
